CONNECTING TO THE GOSPEL
THROUGH FLY FISHING INSTRUCTION

This program of classes and field trips is designed to connect you with others who love the great Oregon outdoors and help you learn about fly fishing. Beginners as well as seasoned fly casters are invited. The group meets from mid-winter to late summer on Saturdays for outdoor classes and field trips that follow specific learning objectives. You can jump in on any class or field trip without having to attend from the beginning.

Open to all, ages 12 and older. (Ages 12-17 need a parent or adult sponsor). A great activity for individuals, couples, Father-Son, Mom-Daughter, …etc. Loaner equipment is  available upon asking.

DAY TRIPS

JUNE 1 – TRASK RIVER

The fishing: We’re going for rainbow and sea run cutthroat.  Most fish are 5″-10″, but occasionally we hook 12″ or larger ones.  We can show you dry fly, streamer, and nymph fishing if you like.  We recommend starting with dry fly fishing and see how you do.  Depart whenever you like.  Most people fish for 3-4 hours.

Let us know if you need a 6:30am ride from the Beaverton area or meet us at 8 am at the Peninsula dirt parking area.  RSVP to spio4535@yahoo.com.

All levels welcome. Ages 12-17 need a sponsor.

Note: We are not guides, just a team of instructors who love to fly fish and teach.  This is our 10th year.

SAINT LOUIS FISH PONDS & GORGE CREEK

May 4, 2024 or July 13, 2024 – Join one or both!

Meet at the church parking lot at 6:30 am or at the Wahclella Falls parking lot (Gorge Creek trip only) at 7:30 am (exit 40, I-84, $5 fee). RSVP to spio4535@yahoo.com

The Basics: 90% of these trout are 4-6″. An 8″ trout here would be a trophy. BUT – this creek is a GREAT training ground for beginners. It has every type of river feature you will find on larger water, and is full of hungry Native Redband trout that will respond if you present your fly correctly. Most students get the hang of it in a couple hours and land at least five (small!) trout. If you wear POLARIZED shades you will triple your changes.

All levels welcome! Ages 12-17 need an adult sponsor.

There is a beautiful waterfall along an easy hike 1 mile upstream Celebrate the day and cool your feet with more great photo ops there. Fish all along the way.
