June 17th - First Day at the School

Hello from Costa Rica! Kalana and Ava here! Today was our first day doing the ministry in the school. We began our day by waking up bright and early at 5:30am and left to go to the school at 6:15am. We arrived at 7 o’clock, and Angeline, Abby, and Kalana had the amazing opportunity to lead the school in a time of worship. The music was followed up by a short devotional given by Justin.

Afterwards, we met with the student ministry team for a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Then, we had the opportunity to connect with and begin developing relationships with the elementary students at their recess. We were encouraged by their energy and the genuine love for Jesus that some of them expressed.

Once we left the recess, we split into pairs to attend various classes with the high school students. These classes included English and science classes. In these, we had the opportunity to engage in activities with the students, and some of us were able to share our testimonies.

During lunch, we were given the chance to further connect with the high school students by playing sports and games with them. We also had several meaningful conversations about the Gospel, the Scripture, and the importance of a personal relationship with the Lord.

We finished up the school day with two more classes, then took a spontaneous jaunt into the city. There we visited a university, some local cafés, and an insect museum (Regan and Ava were not pleased, especially when Justin told them it was a cage-less experience).

We finished our day by arriving safely home, eating dinner, hearing Paul and Linda’s missionary journey, and having fellowship and worship as a team.

Today was such an encouragement, and we thank you all for your prayers. We ask that you continue to pray for us as we further engage with the students and spread the good news of the Gospel. Hasta la vista!
