Kids Ministry
This trip has been an amazing experience for me in many ways. Immersing myself in another culture has opened my eyes to the fact that even though we are so different, we are quite similar. People all over the world have kids and kids are kids in any part of the world! Helping with children's ministry here reminded me why the Bible says, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3 NASB1995)
Our team has attended Sunday school with the kids, listened to a message from the book of Acts, played games and sang with the children. It was a great time! Many of the children spoke good English which made it possible to interact with them more! The faith of little children has been a great encouragement to me. They memorized Bible verses and told them to us! My personal favorite one was, "Jesus wept." There was also a girl who held my hand and kept looking at my nails and playing with my rings; it was so cute and funny!
One day we went to the Mangyan village. In addition to sharing the Gospel with the locals, which was also a unique experience for me, we also ministered to the children! We handed out snacks, made balloon animals, and I debuted as a face paint artist. Fiona and I painted flowers, stars, and animals, and the kids really enjoyed it! (sunflowers were the most popular!)
For me personally, it was an encouraging and humbling experience. Seeing the faith of people who live in difficult circumstances helped me realize what blessings I am living in! It was super cool to see the children's love for God. They were so happy and respectful.
I remember when I was a child myself, and we had visitors from different parts of the world, it always left a great impression and impact on me! So I pray that our ministry here will be impactful in their lives as well!
“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NASB1995)
