MARK & RACHEL HEATH
Sending Agency: Samaritan’s Purse
Eldoret, Kenya
Email: Mark & Rachel (a good way to get on their prayer support team)
Mark is employed full time as an aircraft mechanic for Samaritan’s Purse in Kenya. Mark earned his bachelor degree in Aviation Studies and Technology at Multnomah University and gained work experience at Hillsboro Airport. He and Rachel served together at SWBIBLE and among international students at PSU with a ministry called FOCUS before deciding to go overseas. Mark’s role with Samaritan’s Purse is a paid position which allows the Heaths a platform to live among the local people with the goal of building relationships and sharing about Jesus.
Mark and Rachel started with Samaritan’s Purse in March of 2015. The East African aviation program flies supplies and personnel into areas that are difficult to reach by road; the majority of the flying occurs in war-torn South Sudan. Mark became the Director of Maintenance in 2017; his ministry focus is the maintenance team and the airport staff with whom he interacts on a daily basis. Rachel’s main ministry is their children; she is also developing friendships with women and praying for them to come to know Jesus.
After being unable to return to Kenya in March from their US home assignment due to Covid-19, they took a temporary assignment in Liberia to fill the need for both an airplane and helicopter mechanic. They were able to return to Kenya in May 2021, and Mark took on the role of Chief Inspector at the hangar.
