MEET THE TEAM
Alan & Jill
We have been a part of the SW Bible Community since 2007 and have been blessed by the sound teaching and gospel focus of this church. Our current ministry involvement includes teaching the 4th grade Sunday School class and being on the Global Outreach Committee. It is an honor to help prepare and lead a team to serve in Czechia.
Alan was a part of the 2022 English Camp team and is looking forward to renewing friendships formed then. Jill will be participating in the English Camp for the first time this year.
Hadley
Hey, I'm Hadley: a 90s kid, plaid-and-wool-wearing native Oregonian, middle-schooler at heart (so my siblings tell me), and adventure enthusiast with a penchant for lots of people interaction. I currently reside with an illustrious gang of tea-savvy and musical housemates and have been very successful at building an eclectic resume of employment pursuits in my master plan to become a jack of all trades - the current of which is making cool stuff with leather at a local studio (and occasionally still inventing up mad creations for theater in my own costuming laboratory).
I accepted Christ at the ripe old age of four thanks to the faithfulness of my parents and grandparents. Throughout the struggles and successes of childhood, teenage-hood, and young adulthood, I have more fully grasped that it is Jesus' sacrifice and grace alone that gives me life, makes me an adopted heir, and is sanctifying me. At the same time I have also been learning what it means to live that out as a disciple of Jesus.
I’ve had the privilege of serving in 2019, 2022 and 2023 at English Camp in Czechia and am pumped to return for a fourth year. I'm so thankful that we have the opportunity to partner with the church in Celakovice in just a small portion of their ministry, evangelism, and discipleship. I'm especially excited to get to work again with some of the youth that I had the privilege of spending time with last year and am hopeful to get to share Jesus with both old friends and new.
Emma
Throughout my childhood, I was always enthralled by stories of missionaries (Elisabeth Elliot, Lillian Trasher, Paul Brand, and others come to mind) and I have been open to that being God's call on my life. While I have not felt the prompting from the Spirit to pursue long-term missions yet, God has put it on my heart for several years now to go on a short-term missions trip as a way to experience overseas missions and grow in my ability/comfort sharing the Gospel. The details never lined up for other trips (like the 1824 Philippines trip, for example), but this trip stood out as being a wonderful first opportunity to be a part of a missions trip and the Lord has given me peace about applying to be on the team.
Casimir
At the end of summer 2024 I went to the Philippines with a group from 1824 for two weeks. We partnered with local churches in their ministries and outreaches.
Reason for going on this trip: I heard about the opportunity, and felt called to apply and I am ready to go if the Lord wills!
Erin
On the Czech 2023 trip, I didn't know I was going until 6 weeks before when they needed me to jump in. I've always heard about this trip and the amazing opportunities, but seeing first-hand was incredible. Over 150 people came and heard the gospel over and over for a week long camp and how Jesus has changed our lives. Like I mentioned, I love people and my greatest passion in life is them knowing Jesus. I made so many deep connections the last trip in 2023, and I believe that there is great need for returners to go and continue discipleship relationship. I feel that the Lord would use this scenario of returning mightily.
Jonny and Amy
Jonny: Two biggest reason for going on this trip for me:
The opportunity to do more overseas missions -- I love doing these, and always have. Ever since Amy and I got married, I've hoped for opportunities for us to do overseas missions, but the door just hasn't been open for us to do anything yet. If the Lord makes it possible for us to go, I want to be open to it!
A big draw for me is serving with my wife and kids on a missions trip. In all the missions trips I've been on, it's always been when I was single or away from my family. This is an opportunity to minister to people WITH my family. I've wanted to work with my wife in a ministry like this.
Amy: Jonny and I have loved participating on GO short trips. We were considering it in 2019, before it was canceled due to COVID. I don't even remember why it came up to apply for this year, but as I mentioned, we are looking to bring our kids with us as an opportunity to participate in an English Camp as a family.
Katie
Since joining SWBIBLE, I have been wanting to go on a mission trip, but specifically this one. Hannah Brown was my roommate for 2.5 years and I have been in a Bible study home group with Krista Brown for the last 3.5 years. I have heard so much about the English camp and always thought it would be such a great opportunity. Unfortunately, my previous job was extremely busy from June-July, and it was never feasible to get the time away. However, I started a new position in April 2024 with Pacific School of Pharmacy and have no obligations from end of May until August, so it aligns well with being able to take time off work for this opportunity.
Comfort
Hi, everyone, I’m Comfort! I love working with kids and making music. For my career, I play violin and teach it to kids in kindergarten through high school. I feel blessed to have been part of Southwest Bible Church for all of my growing up. I came to know Jesus personally when I was about 11 years old, and since then have been growing to understand and experience a deeper relationship with Him as He has continued to be faithful in my life. As an introvert, I’ve always been a little scared by the idea of talking with people I don’t know - about anything, let alone spiritual things. But I’ve been learning that God calls each one of us to be his ambassadors, and that His power is made perfect in my weakness. I’m looking forward to seeing how He will work on this trip.
When I was in high school, my family went to Mexico on two short-term trips with a team from Living Waters Spanish. These were great times of spiritual growth as well as connection with other believers. This English camp trip will be the first short-term trip through SWBIBLE I have been part of, and I am very excited about it. For a long time, I have been interested in the English camp, as I heard great things from family members and friends who have gone in the past. I’m looking forward to this trip for several reasons: 1) I’m excited about the opportunity to encourage the believers in Čelákovice by partnering with them in the ministry they have to their community. 2) I’m also excited about working closely with the team from our church, and the church in Florida, and the church in Czechia as we serve together. 3) Personally, I feel the need to be pushed outside of my comfort zone into having gospel conversations with people, both here and overseas. For all of these reasons, I’m thrilled to be part of this team and excited for what God will do through the camp this summer.
